How price tracking works (and why it saves you money)

A price tracker is a simple idea that quietly saves a lot of money: instead of you checking a product's price over and over, software does it for you and tells you the moment it drops. Here's what's actually happening under the hood — and how to use it well.

What a price tracker does

1. You give it a product link. That's the page you'd buy from.
2. It reads the current price from that page automatically.
3. It checks again, regularly — around the clock — and records each price.
4. It builds a price history so you can see the real range, not just today's number.
5. It alerts you when the price drops meaningfully or hits a target you set.

Why price history is the secret sauce

Any single price is meaningless on its own. $120 is only a "deal" if the thing normally costs $160 — and a rip-off if it usually sells for $90. Price history turns a guess into a decision: when today's price is near the bottom of the chart, you buy with confidence. When it isn't, you wait. This is also how you see through fake "was/now" discounts.
